CWM Children’s Project

About us

Who We Are

CWM Children’s Project is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO 069-805) based in Musina, Limpopo. Since 2008, we have provided care, protection, education, and hope to unaccompanied and vulnerable children, many of whom arrive in South Africa without support or family.

Our Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) offers a safe environment where children can find shelter, food, education, counselling, and community. What began as a small act of kindness from the Christian Women Ministries has grown into a vital lifeline for children in need.

Our Story

The CWM Children’s Project was founded on 28 May 2008, when women from the Uniting Reformed Church saw young children digging through rubbish bins in Musina searching for food. Moved with compassion, they began preparing meals from their homes and distributing clothes and food to these children.

As the need grew, the church opened its doors — transforming a garage into accommodation for the first 19 boys under the age of 18. Over time, the project expanded to include both boys and girls, offering them stability, protection, and opportunities for a brighter future.

Today, the centre provides 24-hour care to over 40 children, ensuring their basic needs are met while also addressing their emotional, social, and educational development.

Why Our Work Matters

Musina is the first town after the Beitbridge border post from Zimbabwe. High poverty, unemployment, and migration have left many children at risk of abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Without intervention, these children are left to survive on the streets, vulnerable to hunger, crime, and despair.

CWM Children’s Project exists to change this reality — providing stability, care, and hope, while working to reunite children with their families wherever possible.
